Summer is a go, and it’s time to get after it. From road trips to mountain sabbaticals to quick overnight getaways, the dog days of summer are unquestionably best enjoyed in tandem with nights below the stars. But let’s be honest, we’re a little beyond packing PB&Js, deli meats, and a pound of hard candies to sustain us while on our escapades, aren’t we? 

Great food helps us savor the moment (sorry, couldn’t resist!) and creates a taste memory that helps us relive our best experiences. To help you create your flavor journey, we’ve put together a camping menu with easy to make and yummy meals to be enjoyed while on your next getaway to the lake, mountains, or even just a tent in your backyard. And since a picture is worth a thousand words (and we’re all short on time) we’ve included a photo essay to inspire your next adventure, mealtime and all!

NIGHT 1: Arrive at camp, settle in, and get dinner together before the sun goes down (...or not).

Is there anything more exciting than pulling up to your campsite, setting up the tents and letting the relaxation wash over you? But don’t get too cozy! You’ve got a delicious dinner of campfire kebabs and corn to prepare!

Now get out there and enjoy that sunshine, after all it’s what you came here for! Hike, bike, boat, or fish: it really doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you work up an appetite!

NIGHT 2: After a day spent enjoying the great outdoors, it’s time to reward yourself with a big pot of something yummy.

We sure hope you’re hungry because dinner tonight is going to be something special. You may not think of Tikka Masala as a camping meal, but with a big pot and Masi Masa, this Hawaiian-Style Chili dinner is easy to make and sure beats scrounging for whatever scraps you can find in the cooler. Add some baked potatoes over the campfire, and you may even forget that you’re supposedly “roughing it.”
